Tigers played a rather hastily arranged friendly with Cambridge City this weekend as a good warm-up for our first and second team players this season.
A rare free Sunday where korf-starved Cantabridgians were itching to dust off their boots (some for the first time this season), meant a bit of a hybrid NL/SERL Tigers team was on show this weekend in a friendly against Cambridge City.
Playing 3x25 minutes, the first 'third' was an incredibly close affair with both teams trading goals, and scoring hard to come by with fresh defenders finding easy interceptions and attackers yet to find their range. With a whole end changing for the second third, and a bit of a drought for Cambridge City during the period, this ensured Tigers were able to get a lead of 4 by the next break.
With another end change, the game truly opened up in the final third where Tigery flair was on full show and defences started to tire. Final score 27-19 to Tigers, although Cambridge City played incredibly well, especially against our National League players.
On to the regular season next week. Tigers 2 travel to Harrow and Tigers 1 have their opening game against Nomads at the Perse! Should be a close one!
