FAL's dev squad travelled to Stirling to face Wanderers 3rd XI in a friendly with the visitors struggling to get a full team out for the league match.
Stirling opened the scoring from a quick break, but FAL equalised when Michael Watson took a free hit from the centre of the 25, and found Iain Cameron at the back post who expertly deflected home. Stirling retook the lead with a good deflection from a PC, but FAL equalised again from a corner of their own, with Andrew Kay finding Michael Watson in the "Arthur Robertson" position, and his flick was deflected off a defenders stick into the roof of the net.
After a debate over the score at HT, FAL took the restart but found themselves under almost constant pressure from a strong Wanderers side that played some nice attacking hockey and were relentless in punishing mistakes from FAL when the ball was turned over. Duncan Service managed to keep the scoreline somewhat respectable, but in truth the only highlight for the Devs was a consolation score from Alfie Kay, with the youngster picking up a rebound from the Wanderers keeper and firing his shot low into the corner.
Thanks to Stirling for agreeing to play the game as a friendly and enable the team to play, both umpires for struggling through horrendous weather, and everyone that stepped up to support the team.
