A home match for L1s saw them take on Hillhead in a humid third fixture of the season.
The first quarter started off fairly even however a bit of rough play halfway through caused the ball to deflect off of a blue stick and across the goal line.
The defence came back at this with some good round the back play and outletting forward to the midfield.
Abbie blocked Hillhead on many occasions from getting shots away by planting 4 points of contact right onto the carpet.
Some words of wisdom from captain Flora during the breaks encouraged more attacking leads up top which the forwards/mids were able to convert into entries to the D with some good shots at goal being saved by the Hillhead keeper.
FAL managed to find their rhythm during the second quarter with attacking midfielder Lucinda using her hockey intelligence to read the game which led to some fantastic passes up the pitch to the forwards and speedy tracking back to help out the defence.
The third quarter gave FAL a series of attacking short corners opportunities but a fast out opposition denied the ball the back of the net.
Throughout the game there was stunning play sending the ball forward from centre back Cat meant striker Ash gave the defence a hard time and was unlucky to not score.
A dodgy tackle by Hillhead in the fourth quarter caused Duncan to whip out a green card leaving them down to 10.
Once the carded came back on, Kirsty O performed a somewhat questionable move, sending the opposition player to the ground. After some rather dramatic commentary and a yellow card for the injured, the Hillhead player managed to limp to the side.
FAL were unfortunate the score (1-0) did not reflect the game as everyone put in such a solid shift and fought hard against a fast team, but plenty of positives to take away as well as points to focus on!
Special mention to Ava who made her 1s debut and did not hold back on getting stuck in and intercepting passes!
