League Roundup

Both W1 and M1 are riding high in their leagues, - respectively first and second – both will be looking to secure promotion. With only three games remaining, W1 might well come down to a title-deciding fixture at Leicester Westleigh. In the Mens’ Leagues there are still five fixtures remaining: so M1s need to keep winning, M2s and M4s need to strengthen their league positions and should target three wins out of their remaining games. Meanwhile M3s are already mathematically safe from the relegation battle but it’s virtually impossible to gain promotion. W2 have had some good performances in their “Development” season and are looking forward to the next step.

Code Of Conduct

LHC Committee has been busy behind the scenes: not just pitch bookings, team organisation, league administration, but also with safeguarding, H&S, and the policies and the paperwork! Many policies are now defunct and one of the documents that is in the process of renewal is the Code of Conduct – for Players, for Parents & Carers, for Coaches, Officials & Volunteers. All will be available soon and become part of what it means to be a part of Leicester Hockey Club. The AGM date is not yet set, but is scheduled for April/May.

Match Day Refreshments

Not all players seem to appreciate that the provision of post-match hospitality is a not just a pleasantry, but a league regulation - some visiting teams don’t seem to realise this, if the number of “no shows” is anything to go by! LHC want to see all players enjoying a competitive game and everyone joining in a post-match social. Next season, Nina is taking a break from the soup kitchen, so the Club is looking for a few volunteers to staff the kitchen or teams to take on their own refreshments – How about You?

Cup Results

In the EH cup competitions, Mixed had a great battle against Warwick, winning 3-2 after being 2-1 down and hanging on by defending a last minute PC. They then had an away game at Sutton Coldfield: another well-contended game but a very good SC side came away with a 4-2 victory. Masters (over40s) were knocked out of their competition at Peterborough in December. Meanwhile . . . after a win, a bye, and another win, Mens go marching on into the quarter-final of their tiered competition. Sunday 12^th March sees them take on Beeston3s at LGS – come down and watch the game, enjoy some refreshments; bring the family!

2023-24 Season

While relegation and promotion battles are still in progress, LHC is already looking towards next season, with candidates being sought for team captains even now! See this season’s captains or coaches if you think you’ve got what it takes and you want to know more about these rewarding and responsible positions.
