Ladies 2nd vs Winscombe 3s

The second of two pre-season friendlies for a mixed 1st and 2nd ladies' team saw Mids chalk up another victory with a well deserved 5-2 win over Winscombe 3rds.

Mids spent the first 20 minutes camped in the Winscombe half creating some great attacking play but even though they piled on the pressure they were unable to make the breakthrough. The opposition picked up their play and around 10 minutes before the interval they scored with a quick break.

Their lead lasted about a minute until Holly played a superb ball through to Anna-Athene who took it into the D and around the keeper to level up. Mids kept pushing and their efforts were rewarded when Stacey's composed finish just before the halftime whistle put them ahead for the first time. 

Cameron's team talk seemed to pay off almost immediately in the second half as Kirsten got hold of the ball and made no mistake as she made it 3-1. 

Winscombe refused to lie down and when they made it 3-2 they were still right in the game. Mids, though, capitalised on the space Winscombe were leaving behind their attack, and had a number of great counter-attacks thanks to quick balls and good running all round. When Holly Tyson found the back of the net with an effort from just inside the D the win was surely secured. Just to make absolutely certain Stacey scored her second of the game right at the end with a big hit to seal the 5-2 victory.
