Mens 2nd vs Bristol & West 6

Matchday two saw Mids 2s travel to Bristol and West 6s in Mangotsfield. Blessed with warm weather, a full side and plenty of support coming off the bench, Mids got off to a fine start. Some good build up play, and an unconventional setup allowed Archie to open the scoring in the 2^nd minute with a well taken goal.   The early goal allowed the team to settle and Mids were soon dominating the early exchanges. 

Following a rest, Bristol & West responded with some good possession, structured build up play and took advantage of a couple of lapses of concentration. A well-taken goal levelled the score and a short while later after some sustained possession and good build-up play, they scored again. A pivotal moment just before the halftime break was a succession of saves from Bob to prevent them from scoring again, meaning Mids went into the break 2 – 1 down.

A short team talk, a quick jelly baby and some water, and play got underway again.  Following the break, Mids came out with higher intensity and worked hard both in possession and when tracking back without the ball. Several opportunities came early in the 2^nd half, but unfortunately, Mids were unable to take advantage of these until an instinctive finish from Paul levelled the game with 25 minutes to play.

With both sides pushing for a win, the game became end-to-end with both sides having chances, but a stellar effort at the back from the mids defence ensured that Bristol & West were unable to add to their score with the game finishing in a 2 – 2 draw. On balance, a fair result thanks to a determined team effort in all areas today.
