U10 Boys vs Harleston Magpies Tournament

Match Report: U10B at Harleston Magpies

5 games played, 1 Win, 1 Draw, 2 Losses

Results:

• IES - D 0-0 (backs to the wall defending and need to pass the ball sideways from the back as kept clearing down the middle and back into danger.
• Norwich City - no team so no match
• Ipswich - L 0-1 (still not quite getting passing and clearing to the sides)
• Magpies - W 3-0 It all clicked in this game and everyone played brilliantly and so many good passes and runs which is why there was a great win (Quinn 1 goal, 1 assist, Max 2 goals, 1 assist)
• East Coast - L 0-1 (We need to remember what works and do this again even against better and bigger teams as we were back to passing down the middle or across our goal and that’s why we lost)

We came 3rd out of 5 in the end, and, even if we’d won the last game, we’d still have come third as two teams didn’t lose a game.

COACHES - A repeat from last tournament really with things to work on:

1. Need to work on spreading the play wide as the goals scored against us were a result of our players passing straight up the middle or across goal and the pass being intercepted and opposition straight in on goal

2. Need to work on shooting. Real shooting. Too many boys don’t know quite what to do when they get in the D, or the different shooting variations. Also shooting with lifting the ball would make a big difference as Max showed with his lifted 2nd goal which went into the top of the goal.
