Pelicans started strong in the first quarter working well together defensively whilst also producing some good attacks. The quarter finished goalless.

In the second quarter pelicans produced the first goal of the match from a short corner before magpies equalised on the counter attack.

After half time magpies came out strong scoring 3 more goals. Pelicans kept their heads and got a goal back after Freddie crossed a ball in from the right wing for a brilliant finish by Ben.

In the last quarter pelicans worked really hard to fight back into the game, Freddie scored an excellent goal after getting past the magpies defence near the half way line and sprinting down the field.

Unfortunately there wasn’t quite time to find the equaliser but they can all be proud of their performance.

Some great defending both in midfield and across the back, but special mention to both Will and Josh in central defence who repelled magpies time and time again.

Several names were deservedly put forward for player of the match so ultimately it came down to the captains choice which was Josh.
