St.Ives 4s faced league leaders Kettering, who had not dropped a point all season. Despite a sluggish start it was St Ives who had a number of promising opportunities in the first half thwarted by some outstanding saves from the Kettering keeper. And so it was that at half-time it was 0-0.
Things were about to change during the second half. Although St.Ives started well it was Kettering who hit St Ives with a number of quick counter attacks to go 3-0 up in a short period of time. Despite this St Ives kept battling and found a well struck goal from Miles Dickens. Unfortunately, Kettering then added another to finish the game 5-1. St Ives will rue the missed chances they had and will have to adapt to the quick counter in future games.
