Mens 4 vs Bourne Deeping 3

Before the game started, a minute silence was observed for the sad passing of March player Matthew Lakey at the young age of 29.

St Ives 4s faced a tough game against second place Bourne Deeping. It was St Ives who started better of the two teams creating a number of chances especially down the right hand side of the pitch from Max Pearce. Richard Kellet was able to get two goals, one from a short corner and the other from a follow up. Bourne pulled one back from a long ball that got an unlucky deflection from a St Ives defender that found its way to a Bourne forward who deflected it in. However, it was young Luke Pooley that scored an excellent goal from open play to make it 3-1 to St Ives at half time.

Despite creating a number of chances in the second half St Ives were unable to extend their lead. St Ives did think they had scored by the umpire ruled this out for an unknow reason. With legs tiring Bourne pressed St Ives and were able to get a number of short corners. However, it was from open play that Bourne were able to get two goals to level the score.

Good performance from debutants, Michael Wildin, Thomas McFarlane and Martin Pooley who steeped up from the 5th team to the 4s.
