At Brookweald Cricket Club, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated team working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the club what it is today. Among those who deserve special recognition is Ian Wood, our groundsman and committee member, whose hard work and unwavering commitment have made the Weald Road ground and pitch one of the finest in Essex.

Ian has been instrumental in ensuring that the ground is always in pristine condition, providing players and supporters with a facility to be proud of. His meticulous care and attention to detail have transformed the Weald Road pitch into a surface that is widely praised by visiting teams and officials. Maintaining a cricket ground is no small task, and Ian's work ethic is second to none, whether it's during the peak of the cricket season or in the quieter months when preparation for the following year is underway.

As the season draws to a close, Ian's dedication is particularly evident. His end-of-season work on the square ensures that it will continue to be one of the best playing surfaces in Essex next year. This involves intensive tasks such as scarifying, reseeding, fertilising, and rolling to prepare the pitch for the challenges of the coming season. It's backbreaking work that requires expertise and persistence - qualities that Ian brings in abundance.
