ECC 2nd Team v Ferring
Match report
Ferring won the toss and elected to bowl.
Unfortunately ECC lost a wicket in first over, then Ross Bateman and Mark Bentley put on a 46 run partnership for 2nd wicket, Mark out for a rapid 33. Ross and Louis Wladon put on 54 runs for 3rd wicket. Some very good bowling from Ferring slowed the run rate down. The three Chris's ( Bradshaw, Sumner, Radford) added some much needed quick runs to leave ECC on 158-8 after 40 overs. A special mention for Ross Bateman on an excellent 48.
In reply Ferring were reduced to 10-2 with two quick wickets from Kev Ursell. Ferring slowly got themselves back into contention moving to 65-5 , in that time Ian Paine defied his age and gravity to take and excellent catch at mid wicket, also Charlie Eyre took his first senior wickets in a good spell. A 50 run sixth wicket partnership took Ferring to 116-5 and with overs in hand they looked set for victory. A quick huddle and gee up from the ECC captain got the required response with Ferring losing 4 wickets for just one run , leaving Kev Ursell to take the last wicket to leave Ferring 128 all out and a much needed win for ECC. a hard fought match which could have gone either way, played in a good spirit .
