Welcome to the home of Great Chart Cricket Club Colts.
Over the years our junior section has grown steadily to become one of the largest in the area. Currently we have around 50 members.
We run training sessions in according to age group on Sundays mornings from April until September. Our youngest age group, U8s takes boys and girls from the age of 6. Further information on timings can be found on the junior training page of the website.
Our junior sections also participate in junior competitions run during the year by the Ashford and District Junior League. We endeavour to run as many teams as required such that all juniors who attend regularly can participate in competitive competitions irrespective of ability. We also arrange friendly matches throughout the season.
Juniors over the age of 13 are also encouraged to train with, and play for, the senior teams when it is felt appropriate. This training is held on a wednesday night. We currently have a number of colts playing in our senior sides every weekend, who have become integral part of the team and club.
Each age group is led by a Team Manager under the guidance of our Colts Manager, with plenty of willing volunteers from the senior teams and parents at the training sessions.
If your child is interested in playing cricket please contact our Colts Manager or one of the Team Managers. Everyone is welcome regardless of ability and we are happy for your child to attend up to three sessions to try it out before joining to ensure they are happy.
New Colts Members
For any new colt considering joining this season, you are welcome to have 3 free taster sessions before committing to the annual subscription.
If any new players do not have their own equipment we have some club kit they can borrow. However it is reccomened to have your own kit once signed up, it is also reccomended to have your own abdo gurad (cricket box) for hygiene reasons.
Club Kit
Club colours are the traditional whites, however it is not required for training. All members are able to purchase club kit from our shop on Serious Cricket.
You will also be able to find all the other equipment you need from them as well.
The table below provides details of the required age of players in each age group. Cricket age groups are aligned to school years, with the relevant date being their age on the 1st September each year.
Teams can change year to year, after a few training sessions we get a grasp of numbers and ages and will create teams where possible.
Colts deemed to be good enough will be asked if they would like to move up an age group.
