Magpies womens 4s faced top of the table Sudbury 2s in a must win game on their quest for promotion. Magpies made an aggressive start putting the pressure on Sudbury early in the game, and were soon awarded with a short corner goal by Angie Wheelhouse. Sudbury defended well and were able to break through into Magpie's half for a brief counterattack which was expertly dealt with by Issy Potter. Magpies continued to dominate the first half, with Alyssa Walker controlling the midfield and were unlucky to go into half-time only 1-0 up.
It was more of the same in the second half. Magpie’s young forwards of Lila Eden, Darcy McDonough and Lily Minns caused mischief with their pace, with Melissa Hopkins picking out the long passes from the back. Sudbury's frustration started to show with a rough tackle leading to another Magpie’s corner which was slotted in at the post by Player-of-the-match Issy Potter. It was a quiet game for Caitlin Marjoram in goal as play remained in the Sudbury half and Angie secured the victory at 53 mins with another short corner goal. Final score 3-0 to Magpies.
