3rds travelled to Newcastle Under Lyme with 11 players and an injury only dub, in a desperate search for points and still looking for their first win of 2024.
Changing their formation to a back 4, with availability sparse across the club, Wulf’s were good for their first half performance and having created sufficient chances were unlucky to go into the break 2-0 down. North Staffs goals coming in the 8th and 14th minute.
Within 2 mins Wulf’s conceded another to go 3 -0 down. Following the restart Wulf’s played some good interplay and having lost the ball in the oppositions 23, won it back through Rithick who then beat a defender and played a lovely ball to Simon Heron. Simon dispatched a goal bound shot that rebounded off the keepers pads, with Martin putting the ball in the back of the net. To make it 3-1. Wulf’s went close again a little later when Ed was advancing towards a one on one with Staffs keeper who just got the ball before Ed. Ed ending up in the back of the net as a result of an Ariel Somersault following contact with the keeper, emerging thankfully unscathed.
3 Further Goals from North Staffs made it 6-1 at full time.
3rds need to pick up points and quickly if they are to avoid relegation.
