Shenfield CC Women enjoyed their first hardball match of the outdoor season last Friday evening, with the weather staying fair but chilly for a home friendly against Hutton CC.
After an impromptu team building session expertly led by Bill, getting the protective nets up, Shenfield batted first on a pristine wicket.
Karen kept the score ticking over with a creditable 10 runs before falling to a straight one, while Lizzie hit the shot of the innings with a beautiful on drive to the boundary.
Everyone chipped in with Shenfield getting 42 runs from their 16 overs. Claire and Ash then led the bowling attack against a strong Hutton opening pair who soon got their eye in and hit some great shots.
Hutton surpassed the Shenfield score without loss but the game continued to give others a chance to bat and bowl. Wanda, as wicket-keeper got a great run out from a sharp throw in from Lizzie and Claire’s effort finally paid off, bowling straight to remove middle stump on the last ball of the game.
