Despite playing Peterborough who were sitting 3rd in the league, St ives arrived at the pitch full of optimism on the back of a couple of good performances.
Unfortunately the optimism was short lived and despite starting well St ives were repeatably hit on the counter by a very dynamic Peterborough team and soon found themselves 6-0 down. St ives still showed some promise going forwards and won several short corners nearly converting at the end of the half.
St ives rallied in the seconded half with a change of shape and were playing for pride, creating a few problems of their own with good movement from motm Luke and they duly got a deserved goal from a short corner when the ball fell to DJ to slot home
Peterborough scored 2 in the 2nd half against the run of play and nearly had a 3rd when Denman attempted to win dotd by blatantly taking out their forward, he was however redeemed when they missed the resulting flick. The dod honour was to go to Ranner for throwing his stick on the floor like an angry teenager after being fouled for the umpteenth time, (edit by the website officer; and for losing his shinpads whilst running too fast)
The 2nd half leaves hope for next week when we play Cambridge University.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
