Accept donations from supporters through your club's app and webshop. This guide walks you through creating a donation product that appears at checkout, making it easy for members and supporters to contribute to your club.
Before setting up donations, ensure you have:
From your club dashboard, go to The Club > Manage Club > Products. You'll see any existing products organised by type.
Tap the + Create button to start creating a new product.
On the product type selection screen, choose Donation. This creates a flexible-amount product where supporters can choose how much to give.
Fill in the donation form with the following details:
Tip: Keep your description brief but impactful. Tell donors exactly what their contribution supports.
This is the key step for getting donations at checkout:
When enabled, supporters will see an "Add a donation" prompt when they checkout in your webshop.
Your donation product can appear in multiple places:
Best Practice: Enable only ONE donation for Web Shop Checkout to avoid overwhelming supporters with multiple asks.
If your club is a registered charity, you can claim an extra 25% on donations through Gift Aid.
To set up Gift Aid:
When Gift Aid is enabled, donors see an "Add Gift Aid (+25%)" checkbox. If they're UK taxpayers, they can tick this to boost their donation at no extra cost to them.
What's the difference between donations and fixed-price products?
Donations have a flexible amount - supporters enter any value. Fixed products have a set price.
Can I have multiple donation products?
Yes, but enable only one for Web Shop Checkout to keep the experience simple.
Why isn't Gift Aid showing for donors?
Check that Swift-Aid is connected and your charity is registered. Donors who've already registered won't see the form again.
What makes a good donation description?
Focus on impact. "Your donation helps provide coaching and equipment for young players" works better than "Please donate to our club".
