Track player eligibility under England Hockey's 50% Rule
The Team-Tied Calculator helps club admins ensure squad selections comply with England Hockey Regulation 8.3 - the "50% Rule". It automatically analyses league fixtures, counts player appearances across teams, and calculates eligibility percentages for each player.
Once calculated, eligibility badges appear in Selection Manager, giving captains and managers instant visibility of who can play when the rule applies.
Key Benefits:
Step 1: Open the Calculator
Navigate to Manage Club from the bottom menu. Look for the "Team-Tied Calculator" card and tap to open.
Step 2: Select Your Section
Choose the section you want to analyse from the dropdown (e.g., "Men's Hockey", "Women's Hockey"). Each section must be calculated separately.
Step 3: Run the Calculation
Tap Calculate Now. Teamo will scan all league fixtures in that section and count appearances for every player.
Step 4: Review the Results
You'll see a table showing each player's:
Step 5: Save to Member Accounts
Tap Save to Members to store the data. Eligibility badges will now appear in Selection Manager for all club admins.
When selecting players for fixtures, you'll see coloured badges next to each name:
Badge/Meaning
🟢 Green (60%+)
Comfortably eligible - no concerns
🟡 Yellow (50-59%)
Eligible but borderline - monitor closely
🔴 Red (below 50%)
Not eligible when the 50% rule applies
How it's calculated:
Eligibility for a team = (Appearances for that team + lower teams) ÷ Total appearances
Example: A player with 6 appearances for 1st XI and 4 for 2nd XI has 40% eligibility for 2nd XI (4÷10) - they'd show a red badge.
If you need to reset eligibility data (e.g., for a new season):
This removes all eligibility badges from member profiles in that section.
The calculator shows a snapshot based on fixtures at the time you ran it. As the season progresses:
Recalculate after busy weekends - Multiple fixtures can shift eligibility percentages significantly

Only league fixtures within your selected section. Cup matches, friendlies, and tournaments are excluded - these don't count under the 50% rule.
Players marked as "Playing" in fixture attendance are counted. "Maybe", "Not Available", or unconfirmed selections don't count as appearances.
Those fixtures won't be included. We recommend ensuring all past league fixtures have accurate attendance marked before running the calculator.

Yes. The eligibility data is saved to member profiles and visible to all admins - there's one source of truth for the whole club.
The new calculation replaces the previous data for that section. Historical calculations are logged so you can see when data was last updated.
Yes - run it separately for each section. Men's, Women's, and Mixed sections all maintain independent eligibility data.
They may not have any league appearances recorded in that section. Check that their attendance is marked correctly in past fixtures.
Check that your section has teams with league fixtures, and that fixtures are categorised as "League" (not Cup or Friendly).
Try refreshing the page. The clear operation removes data from the server, but your browser may briefly show cached data.
