Sticks Together 2023 - UPDATED!

Earlier this year, Megan and Lizzie from our Ladies section found out that their unborn baby was not going to survive. On 21.04.23, they said goodbye at 15 weeks pregnant.

During this incredibly tough time, Lizzie and Megan were cared for by the Bereavement Midwife Team and Fetal Medicine Unit at the John Radcliffe. To say thank you for their amazing support, they have asked us, their hockey family, to hold a fundraiser in Baby S-B's honour.

We will be raising money for the Ashfield Fund at the JR, who support parents who are bereaved during pregnancy or shortly after birth. The event will be held on Sunday 10th September and include friendly hockey games for Men and Ladies, a bake and share and a raffle.

A huge thank you to Witney Hockey Club and Oxford Hawks who will be joining us for our charity matches. We have a suggested donation of £10 per player paid either through Teamo for Abingdon players or via your home clubs who can then donate directly to our JustGiving page.

From now until the 11th September, we are running a silent auction for your chance to bag some exciting signed GB and England Hockey goodies. Up for auction are:

• A Grays Hockey Stick and GB Vest signed by Fiona Crackles
• A signed England Training shirt from Nick Bandurak
• A signed Rio 2016 and booked "Winning Together" by Helen and Kate Richardson-Walsh
