The Men's 1s ended their campaign with a 4-0 defeat against Birmingham Uni, leaving the lads mid table.
Our Men's 2s lost 2-1 away at Stafford despite a goal for Liam Glasby.
Our Men's 3rd Team were the most successful on the day beating Cannock 2-1 to secure their safety in Division 8 after promotion last year, Shabba Butti with a fine double.
Our Men's 4s finished a fine campaign with a 3-0 loss away at Burton.
Our Ladies 3s travelled all the way to Ludlow via minibus but lost 3-0.
A Jo Langley goal wasn’t enough for the Ladies 2s as they went down 2-1 against Beacon.
Our Ladies 1s had a day of mixed emotions, they travelled to Cannock knowing only a win would give them a chance of securing safety. This still relied on results elsewhere going in their favour.
Bloxwich started well but went behind against the run of play from a Cannock short corner. Bloxwich pressed and won several short corners, in the final minute of the half captain Charlotte Mincher dragged a ball into the bottom corner to level 1-1.
Second half the game became scrappy, Bloxwich chased a winning goal, as relegation grew closer Bloxwich removed keeper Zoe Webb to gain an extra player. Katie Greensill won a short corner in the final minute, the ball came to Mincher who past right to Vicky Jackson who slapped the ball into the bottom corner to give Bloxwich a 2-1 win! SUCCESS!
Coming off the pitch Bloxwich heard Sutton were 2-1 down, the girls were overjoyed! 20 minutes later we found Sutton had drawn 3-3 and Bloxwich were relegated on goal difference. The team were gutted, a season of highs, lows and near misses. The girls will rally and come back again next season.
Thank you to all players, coaches and umpires on all your work this season to make Bloxwich HC a real success.
