Alongside CUHC, Cambridge is also home to a vibrant college hockey scene. College hockey is a more social, less-competitive way to play hockey at Cambridge aimed at those who are new to hockey as well as those who play regularly. It doesn’t clash with University hockey fixtures, so many members of CUHC also play college hockey in their spare time to represent their college and help more people get involved in the sport (apart from Men's Blues players, who are not allowed to play in league fixtures). College hockey is great fun and generally demands less time commitment than one of the CUHC teams. Standards range from very experienced club players, to complete beginners, often within the same team!
There are currently two 7-a-side mixed divisions, each with around eight teams. There are two separate league season each year, one played throughout Michaelmas and the other during Lent, allowing promotion and relegation after each term. This means that the winning team of Division II in Michaelmas will compete in Division I in Lent.
Cuppers is an inter-college 11-a-side knock-out competition where all hockey players in college can play (including those who have played in the MBlues). This competition is played throughout Lent term and concludes very early in Easter term with a Cuppers Finals Day at Wilby.
