Thanks for your message!
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
Hi everyone, hope you are all enjoying cricket finally being back after what seemed like a very long winter and not being able to get out playing/watching cricket due to the horrendous weather we had in April & the start of May.
We absolutely love that not only is our Friday night junior training sessions for U7s-U13s is consistently growing but also we are continuing to build a great community of adults, coming down to enjoy the facilities, food vendors and bar area. We need to ensure that everything we do is compliant and safe.
The introduction of the Non-playing cricket membership (NPCM) as outlined in the April Newsletter (can be found here) has been introduced because membership to use the club facilities is for members only (this includes the bar) as it is part of our licence to operate and ensures that we are compliant with this and also for insurance purposes. A Non-playing cricket membership for a parent/guardian comes with a junior membership and can now additionally be paid for separately through the Teamo app for the low fee of £10 per year (April 24 – March 25). Not only does this membership allow parents/guardians/friends/family to officially become part of the club enabling those members to use our facilities (including bar) but also enables renting of the club’s facilities and possibly some future discounts at local vendors/supporters of the club which is currently being worked on by the club’s committees.
Membership cards/status can be seen via the Teamo app by clicking your profile – then the little card icon – a membership card will then come up on the screen and will look something like the below: with details of which type of member an individual is i.e Senior, Junior or NPCM
We are welcoming of all new members to the club be it senior players, new juniors wanting to get involved in cricket & non playing members wanting to join in the fun and festivities the club has to offer however we do expect certain levels of behaviour and some rules to be adhered to, unfortunately recent activities at the club at Friday evenings have highlighted lack of co-operation with these and I would just like to remind everyone of a few points
- No external alcohol is to be bought/consumed on the premises, anyone who is caught not adhering to this rule will be asked to leave with further breaches possibly leading to membership being revoked and the offender being asked not to return.
- Parents are to ensure that they are watchful of their children who are not training on a Friday evening - there have been instances of children running into training sessions nearly getting injured and causing disruption to that session.
- Everyone is to stay off the cricket square on Friday evenings – a lot of hard work goes into preparing and maintaining the cricket square and any damage comes at a significant cost to repair – the club will endeavour as much as possible to rope the square off on a Friday evening however please do ensure that you walk around the square and not across and do not let children play on the square.
- Over the past 4 seasons the club has managed to install over 200ms of brand-new fencing as well as repairing another 150ms however some individuals have taken to climbing and ultimately breaking some of these, which now need to be repaired.
- All rubbish to be cleared from the outfield and put within the bins, unfortunately a soiled nappy was left on the outfield for the coaches to clear up at the last junior training session.
Finally, the club is run solely by volunteers with a lot of hours being put in by many to be able to grow the club not only in numbers but also with the facilities we have for everyone to use. Unfortunately, on Friday, there was a few incidents of unwarranted/unnecessary abuse towards coaches/committee members. These individuals are ensuring everyone is having a fun/safe time at the club whilst abiding to some simple rules. I do not condone any of this behaviour and do not wish to hear that it has happened – the club will take any measure against those individuals to ensure we can continue to offer great cricket coaching, in a wonderful environment along with a fantastic social community.
If anyone has any concerns, issues, or points they wish to discuss I will be at nearly all Friday sessions, around the club at weekends and during the week as much as possible I can be reached by email/phone.
Let’s continue to be the cricketing hub of Lewisham, continue to grow our fantastic sport and have fun whilst doing so
Yours sincerely
