Safeguarding is a critical aspect of East London Hockey Club's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all members, particularly for our youth section. Here's an overview of our safeguarding measures:
Child Protection: We have strict policies in place to protect children and young people involved in our club. This includes measures to prevent abuse, bullying, and discrimination, as well as guidelines for appropriate behavior and interaction between adults and children.
DBS Checks: All individuals working closely with children undergo Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. These checks help ensure that individuals with a history of inappropriate behavior are not involved in our youth programs.
Training: Our coaches, leaders, and volunteers receive regular training on safeguarding, enabling them to recognize and respond to any issues concerning the welfare of young members.
Reporting Mechanisms: We have clear reporting mechanisms in place for anyone who has concerns about the well-being of a child or young person within our club. These concerns are taken seriously and addressed promptly.
Safe Environments: We maintain safe and appropriate facilities and playing areas for all members, with a particular focus on ensuring youth players have secure and supervised spaces.
Designated Safeguarding Officer: Our club has a designated Safeguarding Officer responsible for overseeing safeguarding policies and procedures. This individual acts as the point of contact for any safeguarding concerns.
Open Communication: We encourage open communication between members, parents, and guardians to ensure everyone is aware of our safeguarding procedures and knows how to report any concerns.
Our commitment to safeguarding is unwavering, and we strive to create a club environment where everyone feels secure, protected, and able to enjoy the sport without worry. We believe that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and together, we work to keep our club a safe and inclusive place for all.
