About Us

Club History

Gateshead Hockey Club has been in existence since 1957.

Originally named Gateshead Fell Hockey Club, we shared a venue with Gateshead Fell Cricket Club in the early days before relocating to Swalwell and rebranding as Swalwell Hockey Club, again sharing facilities, this time with Swalwell Cricket Club.

In the early 1990’s we rebranded as Gateshead Hockey Club, moving to Gateshead International Stadium. We are currently based at Whickham School.

Club Philosophy

The club’s philosophy is to build an active and healthy future for all, through the provision of hockey activities. We will focus our attention on clear outcomes for all, to grow and nurture talented players from beginners to elite by creating pathways of opportunity for junior and adult players in a safe and friendly environment.

Community Engagement

Working within the community is fundamental to the club’s development. Gateshead Hockey Club work in partnership with Gateshead Schools Sport Partnership (GSSP) by providing support in organising hockey tournaments within the Gateshead community. It is available for schools within the Gateshead area, GSSP and the Gateshead community. The club provides coaching for local schools and hosts coaching camps during the school holidays.

Please browse through our website and click on the contact us page if you have any questions or require further information.

We look forward to welcoming you to the club!
