Harleston Magpies Women's 1st XI played Slough Women's 1st XI on a mild Saturday afternoon, with Magpies looking to bounce back after last week's loss away from home.
It wasn't long before Magpies took control of the game. A long ball into the D from player of the match Beth Gardens finding Maddie Taylor in just the 4th minute took Harleston Magpies to 1-0.
In response, as expected, a highly defensive structure from Slough made finding the backboard more difficult as the game went on. But, even with a penalty flick decision turned over, Magpies kept their cool into the second half.
It wasn't long until Magpies' patience was rewarded. A well worked short corner saw Jess Howland's strike thunder into the goal. With just a quarter to go, Magpies kept the ball with confidence and closed off any consolation opportunity for the visiting side.
Final score Magpies 2-0 Slough.
