Morpeth were looking to bounce back from their narrow defeat last week, and started very strongly against a Tynedale side who had a mix of youth and experience.
Morpeth started strongly by scoring within the first 15 minutes. Morpeth won a short, Andy Gal dispatched a drag flick into the bottom right corner. 1-0. This encouraged Morpeth who then added a 2nd and a 3rd in quick succession. The deer hunter scored from close range after some fantastic play which started on the right with O’Halloran to Funtime Franky Roberts and Andy Gal subliming find Green free at the far post. Hamilton added the 3rd goal with a well executed flick from an awesome defence splitting pass again from Andy Gal.
Half time and Morpeth were in control 3-0. Morpeth dropped off slightly in the 2nd half, and Tynedale scored what proved only to be a consolation.
Morpeth were disappointed to have received 3 green cards in the game. The first for Green for failing to retreat 5 yards away from the ball. The 2nd to O’Halloran for not one, but two trademark chops that Patrick Bateman would be proud of and finally Yuri completing the cards after a couple of wild tackles of his own.
Huge shout outs to Funtime Roberts and Oakton who shared the man of the match award. Oakton controlled the midfield and Roberts had his best game in a Morpeth shirt with some excellent and exceptional link up play!
