14 hockey players made the trip down the A1 on a very clear but still cold day, despite the pitch being fairly rock hard as Chris can attest too and a very interesting aerial from the future D.O.D. off the first pass of the game, the first half was totally dominant from the green and gold of Morpeth. Only with a number of fine saves were we denied a commanding position in the game. Marc made a few great saves when Durham had the occasional break away and Phil, yuri and Chris dominated the midfield.
Eventually with a calm head and great individual skill Andy slotted in a very well taken goal lifting over the keeper.
The half time talk was very positive but as we started the second half the large break from the last game in November showed in our fitness levels and we allowed Durham back into the game. They equalised through some good play and an unfortunate slip from Marc. They then took the lead from quite frankly the worst pass of the game from the D.O.D. straight to their fastest player putting us in the hole.
The team rallied especially max the eventual winner of champagne moment for great hold up play and some fantastic balls across the D. In the end with minutes left in the game, max won a short off the back of 5 stick tackles in a row kept a calm head to secure a 2-2 draw. Fully believe we had turned the corner and with 5 more minutes would have come through on top. Great game everyone and good to be back on the field
