Founded in 1927/1928, Stroud Hockey Club now run:

  • Mens hockey teams
  • Ladies hockey teams 
  • Badgers (boys) hockey team
  • Vixens (girls) hockey team
  • Mixed hockey team during the Summer
  • An Indoor Hockey section
  • A thriving Junior hockey section


The 3 Men's teams play in the West Hockey Divisions - our Men's 1s XI play in the West Men's Division 2 East, the Men's 2nd XI playin the West Men's Cotswold Division 1 and our Men's 3rd XI play in the West Men's Cotswold Division 2.

The 3 Ladies' teams play in the West Clubs Women's Hockey League - the ones are in Berkeley Division 1, the twos are in Severn Division 2 and the threes are in Severn Division 3.

The Badgers / Vixens teams play regularly - Badgers on Saturdays, Vixens on Sundays - home and away games. Badgers / Vixens hockey compromises the more advanced / confident juniors with up to 3 adults as an introduction to adult hockey.

Men's and Ladies' matches are played on Saturdays and Summer Mixed Hockey games are played on Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

All standards are welcome from Beginners upwards ... we have nurtured future Internationals (Simon Mason), too !!

Club Vision

Stroud Hockey Club strives to be a welcoming, friendly and ambitious club for all. The club strive for the highest standards of play as possible but recognises that it will act as a feeder club to other local “bigger” clubs for talented junior players progressing through our high quality junior development scheme

History

Stroud Hockey Club is a club, founded during the 1927/1928 season, and was formed in from an amalgamation of Stroud Hockey Club and Stragglers HC. It is made up of 3 men’s, 4 ladies and 1 mixed hockey sides. Over the years, home match venues have included Stroud cricket club, Rodbourough Common, Quedgeley, Archway and Marling schools. The clubs playing home is now Stratford Park Leisure Centre on the Astroturf pitch, while it’s hospitality is now at the Crown and Sceptre pub on Horns Road.

Stroud Junior section was started 2001 and has enabled the club to flourish and begin to grow again. It has seen it’s numbers grow from 15 to over 250 registered junior players, many going on to represent the county and beyond.

Competitive fixtures are played from U8s all the way up, as well as friendly Vets fixtures organised through out the year.
