Blueharts Men’s 1s enjoyed a comfortable 5-2 win over Old Loughtonians 2s on Saturday to remain in the top four in the East Premier Division.
Nick Ross scored twice, opening the scoring and then rounding off a flowing move involving Sam Rees and Danny Fair.
Goals from Graham Burr and Adam Wells had also helped to put Blueharts 4-0 up and although Old Loughts pulled two back, a great strike from James Sandford rebounded from the post for man-of-the-match Alex Krekis to make it 5-2.
It wasn’t such a Super Saturday for the Ladies 1s however as they went down 4-0 to City of Peterborough.
The 1s pushed for an opening goal in the first half, dominating possession but went in at half-time goalless.
Two Peterborough goals changed the course of the match after the break with Blueharts having to chase the game.
They were picked off twice more before the final whistle and returned with a result which didn’t reflect the nature of events.
Youngster Jamie Williams was on target as the Men’s 2s edged Luton Town 2-1 to seal their first win in three games and stay five points clear at the top of East Division 2 South West.
Dan Harvey scored the only goal from a short corner as the Men’s 3s on Saturday as they beat Vauxhall 1-0 – 48 hours after they chalked up a 6-1 success over Bedford 4s.
Harvey was also on target as was Joe Dalrymple (2), Jack Bayford, Gillan Ide and Ben Keegan.
The 3s maximum haul has pushed them up to 4th in the league – one place behind the Men’s 4s who won 2-1 at Rickmansworth on Saturday.
Ollie Wright was once again among the scorers, rounding off a youngster-led move between Ollie Brigginshaw, Harry Storey and Sam Lacey.
Goals from Ally Antoniou and Meme Brown weren’t enough for the Ladies 2s who went down 4-2 to Stevenage in a match which featured a player-of-the-match performance from Carly Madders.
The 3s did though strike a blow for the club against Stevenage opponents, winning their match 3-1.
After a goalless, competitive first half, skipper Rachel Campbell led the way with the first two goals, while Josie Layton added the third.
Newcomer Vicky Brakenbury earned the player-of-the-match plaudits after a slick and confident defensive display.
Kat McLarty grabbed a hat-trick for the Ladies 4s as they thrashed Harpenden 5-0, Amy Williams scoring the other two goals.
Man-of-the-match Rory Williams and Pete Mitchell both scored two apiece as the in-form Men’s 5s bounced back from conceding after 42 seconds to eventually beat Rickmansworth 2s 5-1 in another impressive performance.
Ben Hammond added the other with the 5s moving into the top four in East Division 4 South West.
The Men’s 6s performed creditably to only lose 2-0 to East Division 6 South West leaders Bengal Tigers – whose goal difference for the season is plus 77!
Despite a brave defensive performance from Emilia Saul, the Ladies 5s were beaten by a single Stevenage 4s goal, but the Ladies 6s secured a 2-0 win over Stevenage with cracking goals from Jenny Burr and a first league goal from Jess Charles in the final few minutes.
Meanwhile goalkeeper Tasmin Taylor and player-of-the-match Francesca Woolley shone on their debuts for the Ladies 7s who beat Chiltern 2s 1-0.
Imogen Ryden grabbed the all-important goal with a reverse stick to convert Claudia Taylor’s shot in the second half.
