Blueharts Men’s 1s put in a quality performance but without reward as they were beaten 4-0 by East Premier Division leaders City of Peterborough on Saturday.
The Blues created plenty of chances but were handed a lesson in finishing from their opponents for whom the scoreline was somewhat flattering.
Blueharts will hope to move back into the top six with a win against Saffron Walden this weekend.
Blueharts Ladies 2s notched a second successive win in East Division 2 South West after they beat St Albans 4s 2-0 on Saturday.
After a goalless first period, Sophie Featherby put the Blues ahead with the help of a deflection from a St Albans defender.
Less than 10 minutes later Kiki Arellano doubled the lead, rounding off a flowing team move to seal the points for the 2s with Ally Antoniou putting in a player-of-the-match performance.
The Men’s 2s enjoyed their best win of the season as they thrashed Saffron Walden 2s 7-2 to move away from the lower reaches of the Division 1 South table.
Man-of-the-match Ollie Wright set the Men’s 3s on the way to victory at Bedford with the opening goal – a drag flick from Brandon Mahrra and a brilliant solo effort from Harry Storey rounded off the scoring in the 3-1 win.
The 3s leapfrogged the Men’s 4s on goal difference in Division 3 South West after they unluckily went down to a late goal at home to the unbeaten leaders Royston.
But there was a welcome win for the Ladies 3s with Karen Gallagher, Jules Rees and Kat McLarty on target as they defeated Stevenage 3-0.
McLarty’s beautifully-worked goal was the highlight of the win, Nicky Turnbull driving into the D and finding Caitlin Barter who slipped it back to McLarty to score.
Lizzy Bayley was also outstanding in an excellent performance for the Hitchin side.
The Men’s 5s were in fine form against Stevenage 2s with two short corner routine goals from Ed McGreggor and one each from Joel Davey, Pete Mitchell and Ben Philipson earning them a 5-3 win.
Abbie Johnson and Ella Lock scored the goals which earned the Ladies 5s a 2-1 win at Hertford – with Cat Cattermole earning the player-of-the-match plaudits.
Another Paul Krishman hat-trick formed the centrepiece of the Men’s 6s’ 4-0 success against Harpenden, with Dave Moore starting the scoring after a well-crafted short corner routine.
After withstanding periods of Harpenden pressure, the 6s got into their passing groove, with Martin Sudweeks delivering a man-of-the-match performance.
The Men’s 7s were also clinical in front of goal against Welwyn with two goals each for Alec Gadsden and George Raynor and one from Harry Palmer – his first for the club – seeing off their opponents in a 5-1 win.
The Ladies 6s were far too strong for Welwyn Garden City, winning 6-1, but the 7s were beaten 5-0 at Shefford and Sandy.
The award to the last remaining unbeaten Blueharts side goes to the Men’s 8s as they continued their superb start to the season – winning 3-0 at Stevenage.
Two goals from Max Bond and one from skipper Dan Holden did the trick as the 8s extended their unbeaten run to six league matches.
The 8s’ spirit was typified with Cam Hone volunteering for a stint in goal – and making a crucial second-half save.
