2024/25 Season - Week 8

Ladies 1s and Men’s 1s secure dominant wins as Ladies Over 35s triumph in thriller

Blueharts Ladies 1s were in no mood for wasting time against Colchester on Saturday - Harriet Marsh scoring in the first minute on their way to a 4-0 victory.

The 1s dominated for long periods but had to wait until the second half to add to their tally, but the goals then flowed from Liv Byford, Lucy Nissen and Jay Livermore.

Beth Jepson put in an outstanding performance, creating chances and mopping up in defence as her side close in on the top four in East Division 1 South.

The Men's 1s secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Saffron Walden, narrowing the gap to two points in the table. Goals from Ben Apperley (2 penalty strokes), Alex Krekis, and Ethan Gaunt sealed the win, with standout defensive efforts from Alex Krekis and man-of-the-match goalkeeper Alex Ford ensuring a clean sheet despite a card-heavy second half.

But the Ladies 2s were frustrated by their Saffron Walden opposition in a goalless draw – Grace Thomson pulling off some outstanding saves as did her Saffron counterpart.

Goals from Ashley and Ben Hammond plus one from Scott Cromack saw the Men’s 3s ease past Hertford.

The 3s stay just ahead of the 4s in East Division 3 South West, Rory Williams putting the 4s on their way to a 3-0 win at Southgate Adelaide.

Noah Tingle then added two more with the 4s behind the 3s on goal difference in second and third in the table.

The prolific Niamh Krishman was among the scorers again for the Ladies 4s in their 3-2 win at Berkhamsted & Hemel Hemsptead, while the 5s were held 0-0 by Stevenage.

Despite two goals from Teah Richardson, the Ladies 6s were beaten 3-2 at Saffron Walden.

Paul Krishman scored his customary goal for the Men’s 6s but they had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at a rain-lashed Bedford, Jack Jones weighing in with a man-of-the-match performance.

The 6s came within the width of a post from taking all three points in the dying moments but battled well in a tough encounter.

The Ladies 7s went down 4-1 to St Albans but goals from Alec Gadsden, Ian Baxter and Gavin Bidgood earned the Men’s 7s a 3-0 win at West Herts.

It looked as though the last remaining Blueharts unbeaten record could fall when the Men’s 8s trailed to MBDA.

But goals from Barry Smith, Max Bond and James Moore swung the match round and despite a late MBDA goal, the 8s hung on – thanks to some brilliant goalkeeping from Will Faulkner.

The Ladies Over 35s won a dramatic game in the Plate 3-2 at Colchester, debutant Jay Livermore opening the scoring.

Colchester rallied though and two goals put them into the lead only for Rebecca Woodgate to touch in a slick ball from Nat Gilder for the equaliser.

Woodgate then grabbed the winner at the far post after being set up by player-of-the-match Livermore.
