Richmond Academy is a training environment designed to stretch and challenge young players and support them to achieve their potential in line with the EH Talent System. We have two academies at Richmond - Mini Academy Years 4-7 and Senior Academy Year 8-13
Academy Selection Process: Our Director of Hockey and all our coaches will be assessing all players during all sessions. There is no formal trial as this puts unnecessary pressure on our young players. All players should focus on playing to the best of their ability at all training sessions, listen to coaches and apply it to their game. We assess a player on their athleticism, ability, attitude and aptitude (including coach-ability).
Mini Academy - U9 - U12 (Years 4 - 7) Training Sunday Morning 09.15 - 10.30
Sessions combine game play with the opportunity for enjoyable but focused practice, giving players the opportunity to work together to recognise their strengths and the areas to work on. Sessions are suitable for enthusiastic, highly motivated and engaged children who would like to improve their game overseen by our academy coaches. Selection and training runs throughout the year and membership is on a termly basis.
Senior Academy - U14 - U18 (Years 8 - 13) Training Monday Evenings 18.30 - 20.00
Sessions offer an environment of safe challenge and support for talented players and gives our players the opportunity for further development. Players learn and develop their skills and practice them in a range of different playing scenarios. Players will be asked to work together, share feedback and reflect on their own development. They will be supported on their talent development journey by the Academy Coaches as they move towards playing more challenging junior hockey and senior hockey. Selection runs throughout the year and membership is on a termly basis.
