A flat 11 made the longest journey of the season in fine weather and in hope more than expectation. Depleted by injuries Sudbury 3’s game plan was set by Captain Bonner, ‘don’t lose!’ After 10mins of sustained possession Pelican’s opened the scoring from a deflected short corner. This rallied Sudbury into action and determined not submit, an equaliser from Doyle saw SHC regain momentum. Dudley suffered a strain but battled on valiantly, at half time it was 1 all. Pellies, were rolling fresh legs, peppering the Sudbury keeper eventually scoring a second from a scuffed shot that caught in-form Redford off balance. On a break Spackman received an hideous sideswipe which saw Pelicans down to 10. Sudbury sensed their opportunity and levelled the score, poetically by the stick of Spackman. Disgruntled, the opposition fouled further, crumpling Club legend Ketley. As the final minutes ticked closer Sudbury had the upper hand but the game ended a draw with 2 apiece.
