Ladies 1st Team vs Oxford 2

The ladies 1s returned with their usual winning standard for the first preseason match of the year, blowing away Oxford 2s with a 5-2 win. 

Straight away our opposition were rattled; with great pressure from Wally forcing an immediate turnover from pushback. It was no surprise when only minutes later Beth smashed the ball from halfway, allowing Flic to deflect the ball in to the goal . 1-0 to Wally! After continued pressure and lots of end to end play, opportunity struck again, with Beth dribbling in to the D, taking advantage of the disorganised Oxford defence and hitting the ball into the bottom corner - 2-0! Oxford then stepped up, settling into the game and slipping one past the Wally defence - 2-1. Back with a vengeance, Tazz hit a great reverse - a certain goal - with Phil sliding in on the post, putting her knee pads to good use. Wally finished the half strong with Oxford giving away a penalty flick which Phil skilfully slung into the back of the net. 

The second half was slightly frantic, with Oxford maintaining possession leading to a second goal for the team. However their hopes for a third were shattered after Holly faced down a penalty flick, a keeper so intimidating that all the Oxford player could do was miss the goal. Amy decided Wally needed an extra challenge and left us short handed after being shown the green but still we persevered. Tazz rounded out the match with a cracking ball to Flic, who made a deflection once more into the back of the goal. Everyone played really well, putting a great stint in, shoutout to Sibby for MOM and Amy G for DOD!
