Womens 5s vs Castaways W1

Women's 5s Match Report 05.10.24

Magpies travelled to Castaways for an early push back on another sunny Saturday, both teams had a strong start. Magpies carried it up the wing and broke their line of defence, with a strong hit Becca scored the first goal. Swift passes between the top and bottom diamond, using the space and dribbling with amazing skill past the opposition made for another confident goal, which Annette scored. After a lot of intense play in the centre, Magpies were able to get the ball through and into the D, where Jas dribbled between multiple players to neatly push the ball past the goalie, Magpies’ third goal. Our line of defence was strong and always managed to push the opposition’s forwards away from the D, there were impressive and controlled carryings of the ball out to players on the wing or to the centre.

After half time, Castaways were more defensive and harder to get through, their centre and wing players made it to our D but our defenders were able to reclaim the ball and pass back out again, for Rachael to score the fourth goal. Becca scored the final goal, her second one too, with not long left of the match to go. It was very impressive.

As a team we agreed that each player was always in the best position on the pitch that they could be and used a lot of communication which is what gave us a well deserved win against the strong opposition!!
