Player Sponsors

A local business pays to back one named player for the season. Their logo sits beside that player on your club website and in the Teamo app. And every player who hasn't got a sponsor yet becomes a place you can sell.

Player Sponsors is where you run it all: who is sponsored, by whom and until when, with a logo and a link. Enter a sponsorship once and it appears everywhere it should, with no hand-built web page to keep up to date.

One sponsorship appears in four places: the sponsors gallery page, the team squad page, the squad tab in the app and the player’s profile

You'll find it in Manage Club → Club Admin → Player Sponsors. Only club admins can set sponsors.

🚦 1. Turn it on, and choose who for

Nothing appears anywhere until your club decides. The first time you open Player Sponsors, it asks who should show sponsor places.

The Club Admin section of Manage Club, with the new Player Sponsors card highlighted next to Venue / Locations and Team / Competitions

  • The whole club: every team, including teams you add later.
  • Selected teams: usually the senior sides. Tick the teams you want; nothing appears on the others.

The Who shows sponsor places screen, with Selected teams chosen and six senior teams ticked

🛡️ Junior squads are always separate. “The whole club” doesn't include them. They stay off unless you name them one by one. Putting named, photographed children beside a business logo is a decision for your club officers, so Teamo never makes it for you.

Whichever teams you choose, members without publication consent never appear, on any team. To change your choice later, click Change next to “On for” at the top of the screen.

📊 2. Your season at a glance

Once it's on, the top of the screen counts every place for you:

  • Players eligible: everyone on the teams you chose.
  • Sponsored and live: places sold and showing.
  • Available to sell: your sales list.
  • Need attention: places where someone needs to do something.

The four counter tiles: 198 players eligible, 4 sponsored and live, 187 available to sell and 7 need attention, above the toolbar with season, team filter, season end date, Export CSV, Import CSV and Refresh

The tiles are also filters. Click one and the list below shows just those players. Click Players eligible to see everyone again. The toolbar underneath lets you narrow the list to one team, set your season end date, and import or export the whole list.

Need attention has three reasons: no logo yet, no publication consent, or a place ending within 60 days

📅 Set your season end date first. Every new place runs until that date. If the date has already passed, Teamo warns you (you can see the yellow note above), because anything you add would expire straight away.

✍️ 3. Add a sponsor

Quick edits, right in the list

Click any Sponsor, Link or Runs until cell and type, then press Enter. Typing a business name into an empty row sells that place. Clicking away saves too, so check before you click off a cell.

The sponsorship list with its toolbar (season, team filter, season end date, Export CSV, Import CSV, Refresh) and five sponsored players, four with a logo on file and one still needing a logo uploading

  • Logo shows ✓ On file, or ↑ Upload when one is still needed.
  • State tells you where each place stands: Live, Expiring, Available, or Not published when the player hasn't given publication consent.

The full sponsorship record

Click a player's name to open their full record. You can also get there from the player's profile under Player sponsor. It has everything a sponsor might want on show:

  • Sponsor heading: the business name.
  • Strapline (optional): a short line under the name, like “Growers since 1962”.
  • Description (optional): a sentence or two about the business. This shows on the player's profile only.
  • Link (optional): their website. The logo becomes a link with a “Visit sponsor” cue.
  • Runs until: the last day the place is live.
  • Logo: PNG or JPG, up to 2MB, any shape. It's fitted into the space, never cropped. You can also reuse a logo already on file, which saves time when one business sponsors several players.
  • Show on the club-wide gallery: turn this off to keep a sponsor on the team page and in the app only.

As you type, two live previews show the card on the wall (gallery, squad page and app) and on the profile. The record also tells you whether the player has publication consent on file before you save, so you're never left wondering why a card hasn't appeared.

The sponsorship record: Sponsor heading, Strapline, Description, Link, Runs until and Logo on the left, with live previews on the right of the card on the wall and the panel on the profile

A player can have a second sponsor too. The card then shows the two logos side by side.

📥 4. Import a whole list

Coming from an old website or a spreadsheet? Click Import CSV and bring every sponsor in at once. Use four columns in this order: player name, sponsor name, strapline, url. A header row is optional.

A four-row CSV becomes an import preview: 2 of 4 rows ready, 1 needs a name picking, 1 cannot be imported, with Import 2 rows and Cancel buttons

And here's the real preview in Teamo, row by row:

The import preview in Teamo: 2 of 4 rows ready, 1 unknown, 1 cannot be imported. Two rows are ticked, one says No member of this club has that name, and one says Link must start with http:// or https://

  • You see a preview first. Nothing is written until you click Import.
  • Same name twice? If two members share a name, you choose the right one from a list. Teamo never picks for you, because a business beside the wrong person's photo is worse than no card at all.
  • Bad rows say why (for example, a link that doesn't start with https://) and never stop the rest from importing.
  • Logos aren't in the CSV. Add them afterwards, and the Need attention tile shows you exactly which ones are missing.
  • Export CSV downloads the whole list, with team, logo status and state, for your records or your treasurer.

🌐 5. Build your sponsors page

Most clubs want one page with every sponsored player on it. Go to Website → Pages, open (or create) the page, and add a Contacts block. In its settings:

  • Under Who appears, choose Show sponsored players: “Everyone with a sponsor, kept up to date on its own.” A place sold on Tuesday is on the page on Tuesday, and nobody has to open the editor.
  • Set the Layout to Cards. It's the only layout that shows sponsors, so Teamo selects it for you when you choose sponsored players.

The Contacts block settings with Cards layout selected and the player sponsor card options: Randomise order, Show team filter, Show players without a sponsor, One team only and Enquiry link

  • Randomise order: reshuffles on every page load, so no sponsor is permanently first. Sponsors who've paid the same should get the same shop window.
  • Show team filter: team chips across the top, each with a count.
  • Show players without a sponsor: their cards show as available with a way to get in touch. Turn this off and the page stops selling.
  • One team only: tighter cards with the team name left off. Ideal for a single squad.
  • Enquiry link: where “Contact the club” goes. A page on your site, or a mailto: address.

Here's what your visitors see:

A sponsored players gallery page: a banner saying 2 places are still available with an Enquire about sponsoring button, team filter chips, and six player cards, four sponsored and two available

Three player cards: one with a sponsor logo and Visit sponsor link, one with the sponsor name in italic type because there is no logo, and one available card with Sponsor this player and Contact the club buttons

Cards take your club's colours automatically, and a player without a photo shows their initials instead of an empty circle.

📱 Squad pages and the app

The same cards work on your team squad pages on the website. Turn on One team only in the block settings for tighter cards.

In the Teamo app, teams you switched on get a Squad tab on the team page. That's where most people will see your sponsors, because members open the app every week. It counts the team's places for you too:

The Squad tab on a team page in the app: 10 of 190 sponsored, 180 available, with a sponsored player card showing the sponsor logo and an available card with Sponsor this player and Contact the club

The sponsor also appears on the player's own profile, with an Edit link for club admins. The player sees it under Your sponsor.

The Player sponsor card on a member profile, showing the sponsor logo, Until 31 May 2027, linked to the sponsor website, and an Edit link

💡 Good to know

  • Available cards are how places sell. Every open place carries Sponsor this player and Contact the club. Keep “Show players without a sponsor” on while you're selling, and point the enquiry link somewhere someone actually reads.
  • No logo? It still looks right. The business name is set in type in the space a logo would fill, with the strapline under it.
  • Consent comes first, always. A sponsorship can be recorded for a member without publication consent, since your club may well have sold it, but no card is published anywhere until consent is on file.
  • Sponsors are set by club admins. A club's commercial arrangement about a member is never something the member edits themselves.
