Men's 3s vs Shrewsbury 2

Men's 3s travelled to local neighbours Shrewsbury to play their 2nd team. Shrewsbury are a tough mature bunch that know how to command a game with a small scattering of young juniors providing the legs for them. With welcome return after long term injury AJ, plus welcoming Tricky, Duff and Lloydy into the team we set off that the game will be controlled by Telford today and a positive start would get us on our way into the league.

Managed by Cassie running the bench the 15 man squad appropriately lined up and off we went!

1st half was a great start with Telford bossing the pitch and keeping the ball in Shrewsbury's half. Attacks to goal were in the plenty and some polite passing instead of selfish shooting and a few being a bit sleepy to the new pace of play we scrambled 2 goals through Roman and Lloydy before half time. Any attacks toward our D were soon stopped and we pushed hard against them!

Happy with this, the half time talk was about keeping the pace, keep talking and communicating well, tighter marking to prevent small slippages but more goals were definitely there to be taken!

And so to the second half we pushed to get more goals. Fantastic control of the pitch by the defence and the excellent skills of Glyn, Tricky and Lloydy in midfield picked of the advancing midfield.

Luke Oldham down the right was skinning his opponents with great runs and passing.

$ more goals came over the half with George picking a high ball rebound of the keeper to push into the net, Lloydy grabbing his second with a dive and slide to deflect it in, Duff grabbed one and Luke on a solo run down the right, across the base line, turn and reversed a rocket into the high netting stunning Shrewsbury!

Shrewsbury grabbed 2 silly goals. 1 though an unmarked winger coming down the right to place it to his centre forward and the 2nd being through all of defence stopping to expect a whistle from the umpire only for the Shrewsbury player to keep going and push it towards the goal. Tom c in goal still expecting a whistle watch the ball go into the goal. Goal given!

Game finish 2-6. A great start!

MOM - Shared by Luke and Lloydy

DOD - Tom Cornwell for watching the ball going into the goal!
