Ladies 4s vs Alderley Edge 6

And so, it was the Derby day (and I don’t mean a trip home for the captain) …………

After many trips to the toilet and no water to flush for some it was time to make our way to the Kings Macc pitches where the dark side would be waiting to try and spoil our party.

Wilmslow started as the meant to go on, playing strong aggressive passing hockey. First spoils went to Harriet as she weaved a merry dance around a minimum of 3 Alderley players to slot the ball home and settle many Wilmslow players nerves. This was closely followed by a goal for the youngest player on the pitch for the bright side Sophia who sent the ball into the back of the net from another fizzing ball from Harriet on the right who had got there with some great link up work with defender Sarah and midfielder Jane. Some nifty work in defence from an Alderley attack saw the ball this time moving up the left flank from player of the match Dougall to mid Sharon, Sam and Hil linking with Roisin and Penny who once again found a hungry Harriet who smashed the ball into the goal where it was deflected in by the Alderley defender. Em and Gill put in a lot of running today hunting out the ball from all corners to ensure the Wilmslow forwards were well fed. The special goal went to Jane A who was determined to put the ball past the keeper which she was able to do when the ball from Lindsay put her in the right position to take the shot and score. Dougall also found herself in the oxygen mask zone taking a strike a ball roll out of the d that found the back of the net but alas was disallowed. A short corner awarded as the final whistle blew saw a lovely worked corner routine with what Wilmslow thought was Roisin’s first Wilmslow goal only for it to be like the one before it disallowed. Not a bad day at the office, 4 goals scored, 3 points earned and a nice cup of tea and a natter with the team back at the AECC. Player of the match Dougall for her tireless work in defence and donkey of the day for reasons we don’t know but she suited the hat anyway Sharon

Big birthday shout out for the clean sheet keeper of the week our very own Steiger Tiger x
