Captains: DBS and Training

CC, Club Captains (Bobby/Caz), Vice Captains (Matt, Pete, Jess, Holly) 

Team Captains - we need to ask for your support please. 

As part of our ClubMark re-accreditation, England Hockey have asked us to update some of our policies and procedures. As a result, we need to ask all team captains (or named nominee(s)) to:

• complete an EH DBS check
• complete the EH “Safe Hockey” training - one hour, online
• complete the EH “Basic Safeguarding” training - one hour, online.

Please confirm by 20th December who from your team (1, 2 or 3 names) who will take the EH DBS check and 2 training courses. 

Guidance:

• Please send the name(s) to Bobby/Caz and certificates@wilmslowhockey.org.uk (forwards to Jim Garside and Danni Heap)
• You might choose to do all three tasks yourself. Or to delegate one or more of them to a nominee(s) (with their prior agreement) 
• If anyone in the team already has a valid EH DBS certificate (or subscribes to the government DBS update service) that is sufficient (but we need a copy of the certificate)
• If anyone in the team has already completed either of the training courses, that is sufficient (but we need a copy of the certificate) 
• Any nominee(s) should be a regular member of the team and become one of the team’s “champions" for Safety and/or Safeguarding
• The Club will cover the cost of the DBS check and Safeguarding training (The Safe Hockey training is free).
• For any problems or concerns, please talk to Bobby/Caz in the first instance.

1. DBS Instructions:

• Once you provide your or a nominee’s name, they will receive an email to initiate the DBS check process. (You will need to show your original proof of identity documents to one of our DBS verifiers in due course.)
• Send any existing name and certificate to certificates@wilmslowhockey.org.uk 

2. Safe Hockey training (1 hour):

• If you (or nominee) have already taken this training please provide the certificate 
• If not, please complete the training course by 6th January and provide the certificate

Instructions:

1. Click the link to open the Hockey Hub (you will need to log in): https://hockeyhub.englandhockey.co.uk/safehockey 
2. Complete the training in one go (if you close the browser you’ll have to start again). Take the quiz to complete the training
3. Screenshot the score/completion page (just an case) then find the certificate from the Safe Hockey home page.
4. Send certificate to certificates@wilmslowhockey.org.uk 

3. Basic Safeguarding training (1 hour):

• If you (or nominee) have already taken this training (or have an equivalent safety qualification) please provide the certificate
• If not, please complete the training course by 6th January and provide the certificate.

Instructions:

1. Click the link to open the Hockey Hub (you will need to log in): https://hockeyhub.englandhockey.co.uk/safeguarding_awareness  
2. Use the voucher code EN9867 to start the training. Do not pay!
3. Complete the training including the quiz and locate the completion certificate on the Safeguarding home page
4. Send certificate to certificates@wilmslowhockey.org.uk
