WPAL is a company set up in 2004 to manage the astroturf pitch on behalf of Wilmslow Hockey Club and the other sports at Wilmslow Phoenix Sports Club. The astroturf pitch was largely funded by a loan from the hockey club following a major fundraising effort and a substantial gift from Jim Barrow, the founder of the modern day WHC and long time president.

The shareholders of the company are WHC (90%) and WLC (10%) with trustees holding the shares on behalf of the respective clubs. The shareholders and trustees for Wilmslow Hockey Club are Tim Short and Sarah Brickhill.
