Home Teas Arrangements

Home Teas Arrangements

Starting on Saturday 23rd September, our caterer - Marco - will provide food for “teas" for opposition AND home players for adult and junior home matches (at Oakwood Farm and Cheadle Hulme School) This will replace the arrangement from recent years whereby WHC home players provided teas to the opposition on a rota basis.

At the AGM in May we decided to offer teas to our own players (and umpires) when they play at home, as well as to the visiting opposition players. The intention is to relieve members of "tea duty", avoid contention in the kitchen, encourage more members to use the bar/clubhouse and provide a better match day experience for home players and visitors.

Since the AGM, we have worked through the costs and practicalities of having Marco provide teas for home and away players and will start the new arrangements on a trial basis from next weekend.

Our plans have been complicated by the flooding of the clubhouse. Until negotiations with the insurers are completed and the repairs and sanitisation done, our own clubhouse, bar and kitchen cannot be used.

In the meantime, we have asked Marco to provide a limited cold food option to players in the Wilmslow Albion Football clubhouse, where we can also use the bar.

How will it work? (for a home match)

  • Captains: ask the opposition how many players will stay for teas and ask your own players too
  • Players: let your captain know by Wednesday night if you expect to stay for tea for your home match
  • Captains: let Marco know by 10am Thursday how many home and away players have requested teas (use the online form for this)
  • Marco: will prepare the food according to the number of requests. It’s important we give Marco a good estimate of numbers so that he can prepare enough food and avoid wastage.
  • Players: collect your food from Marco after the match - no ticket required
  • The club: will pay Marco for the actual numbers of servings.

What to expect:

  • Teething problems in the early weeks - please be patient and understanding
  • Modest portions of food - we’ve given Marco a limited budget
  • We’ll monitor the trail and ask members for feedback
  • We’ll switch from cold to hot food provision once we have access to our clubhouse again.
