Marshalling: Sunday 27th November

Please sign up to be a marshal for the Wilmslow Festive 10k on the morning of Sunday 27^th November! It’s fun and helps raise vital funds for the club.  Please bring your friends, parents, children, uncles, aunts – the more the better! Adults – bring a junior member! Juniors – bring an adult! We need lots of people!

How do I sign up?

Please mark yourself as “available” in Teamo and - if you are bringing others - please complete this form too. It’s important we know exactly who is coming so we can assign everyone to a position on the course a few days ahead of time.

Why do we ask members to marshal this event?

Wilmslow Hockey Club members have been marshalling at local running events for over 30 years! Marshalling is part of who we are and it is a vital source of club funds. In fact, the Wilmslow Running Festival was started and is still operated by representatives of Wilmslow Hockey Club, Rugby Club and Running Club. Marshalling income raises over £6,500 a year - that’s equivalent to membership fees for 37 adults or 13% of our total income for the year. This income means we can keep membership fees down.

Our President says “I would like to set the expectation that EVERY adult member and EVERY junior member (U18s, U15s) volunteers to marshal AT LEAST ONE RACE EVERY YEAR. There are c.240 club members plus friends and family - more than enough to marshal all three races if we all do our bit.”

Marshalling isn't anything to worry about!

Those of you who have marshalled races before will know that it is:

• Fun – entertaining, good humoured and you can marshal with your friends/family
• Rewarding - runners show their appreciation to the marshals
• Easy - doesn’t require any skills or knowledge, we give you guidance
• Short – it’s over in 2-3 hours on a Sunday morning
• Inspiring - to see so many runners and feel part of the community.

We will make sure you have all the support you need and will position you with more experienced marshals if you are concerned.
