Summary of Phoenix AGM

All members of Wilmslow Hockey Club and Wilmslow Lacrosse Club are automatically members of Wilmslow Phoenix Sports Club (WPSC). 

WPSC is responsible for the day-to-day running and upkeep of the grounds, clubhouse and bar, and for making the improvements around the site that make playing sport at Oakwood Farm such a pleasure. Without WPSC, this work would fall to the hockey and other sports sections to plan and organise for themselves.

• Thank you to Stuart Chapman for all the work he has done for the club throughout Covid and the flooding. Stuart is stepping down as Chair.
• Thank you to Penny Sparrow for dealing with the insurers and loss adjusters during the flooding recovery. Thanks too to Penny for many years of dedication to Phoenix and the club as a whole - Penny is stepping down as Secretary.
• The the poor state of the grass pitches is a major issue for the club. Lacrosse have only been able to play 3 home games on the grass this season, Wilmslow Football Academy have had to use the astro at times and so have Cricket.
• Styal Running Club is going from strength to strength and is a great asset to WPSC.
• Finances are under the control of Tony Collier, but WPSC needs a Treasurer to work with Tony.
• Accounts for 2023/2024 were presented and agreed at the meeting
• No budget was presented. An Extraordinary General Meeting is to be held within 30 days to agree a budget and Treasurer.

• Chair – Paul Boon. (NB Paul is also the Chair of Wilmslow Hockey Club for 2024-2025)
• Vice chair – Chris Hunter
• Treasurer – Graham Teal (interim). It was agreed that the permanent appointment of a treasurer would take place at an EGM which would include presentation of the budget.
• Hon Secretary – Alys Johns
• Bar Secretary – Rachel Chapman
• Grounds Secretary – Graham Teal
• House Secretary – Stuart Chapman
• Development – Alan Murdoch 
• Bookings Secretary – it was agreed to merge bookings and bar. Thanks to Jan Perrin for the years that she has done the clubhouse bookings. 
• Welfare Officer - TBC (but may be WHC Welfare officer).
• Discipline Officer - Michael Mclaughlin was appointed again.
• Membership secretary - Chris Hunter will take this role on and merge it into the bar system.
