Southampton Hockey Club is a friendly, family orientated, and sociable hockey club based in the heart of Southampton. We aim to offer quality hockey to all, from those wishing to develop and compete at the highest level, to those wanting to get active and try out a new sport, or those just wanting to be a part of a sociable team, we have an offering for players of all abilities and backgrounds.
Our adult section offers 5 men's teams and 5 ladies' teams across a range of abilities in the South Central leagues and Hampshire cups, with opportunities to play mixed hockey and summer league games in the off season. Our Ladies' 1XI currently play in South Central Women's Premier Division 2 and have enjoyed spells in the National League in recent years, with our Men's 1XI looking for promotion from South Central Men's Division 3 South this season, having won the National Vase in 2017. Our Men's 3XI also won the Hampshire Open Trophy in 2017, and our Otters were runners up in the Hampshire Plate last season.
Under the direction of our previous Head Coach, the late Roger Merry, SHC has established a thriving youth section for boys and girls aged 5 and up. The junior section is now run by Wales and GB international Sue Merry and a team of able volunteers, and helps young players get a feel for hockey, learn the rules of the game, and develop skills in a fun, friendly, and safe manner. We hold the annual Roger Merry Minis Tournament in Roger's honour at Southampton Sports Centre which sees clubs from all over the county coming together for a day of fun hockey.
As we enter the 2024/25 season SHC are looking to reinvigorate ourselves after a few tough post-covid seasons, and are aiming to offer more opportunities for members to play, socialise, and have fun together as a club.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
