The product of the coming together of Southampton Woman's Hockey Club and The Old Tauntonians Hockey Club, Southampton Hockey Club has been in existence in one form or another since 1938 and its present form since 2005.
1938 - Southampton Woman's Hockey Club was formed.
1982 - The Old Tauntonians Hockey Club was formed by the old boys of Taunton School, now known as Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.
1984 - The Old Tauntonians Hockey Club and Southampton Woman’s Hockey Club began using the same club house.
1987 - Both clubs began training together, and a junior section was created.
1989 - The clubs became partners in the Old Tauntonians Sports Club leading to the establishment of a joint social calendar the following year.
1991 - Southampton Woman’s Hockey Club took the decision to change their club colours to the same as Old Tauntonians Hockey Club.
1993 - Old Tauntonians Hockey Club changed their name to Southampton Tauntonians Hockey Club and joint negotiations began for the purchase of the lease for the ‘Pub in the Park’, now known as The View, as the new onsite clubhouse/business opportunity.
1994 - Tauntonians was dropped from the clubs’ name and became Southampton Hockey Club.
1996 - Takeover of the Pub in the Park by the combined force of Southampton Hockey, Bowls, and Netball was completed it was renamed The Sporting View.
2000 - The astroturf at the Sports Centre were re-laid for the Millennium Games and all hockey matches and training sessions were moved from the old grass pitches to these new astoturf pitches.
2005 - Southampton Woman’s Club and Southampton Men’s Hockey Club formally joined forces as Southampton Hockey Club.
