Absolutely great match today. The GU14 Tigermoths faced Surbiton (currently top in other Tier 2 League, so no wimps..) in the Tier 2 Plate competition, in lovely driving rain and low temperatures..
Surbiton scored first, then we created several good chances that we just couldn’t put away, before a beautiful team build up led to a great equaliser from open play. 1-1 at half time..
Second half a raft of chances but just couldn’t close it off completely - Surbiton got one more, we nearly made two, and then they got a slightly lucky one after a short corner.. two more opportunities for us ended on the Surbiton goalie’s pads.. End result 1-3 loss.
But far more important than the score line was that just like last week we had a goal hungry team on the pitch, showing great team play, lots of forays into oppo D, lots of chances and great skills, good communication, and all that despite the slanting rain and chattering teeth all around. Here was a proper team at work!
It could easily have ended with the score the other way around.. Well done girls!
