......for all official club communications.
Teamo is designed to address the Safeguarding, Privacy and Inclusion risks we face with WhatsApp. (For full rationale, see email dated 9th Feb or the website here or the document attachment below.)
Men’s Captains/Coaches:
- Remove juniors (U18s) from current squad related WhatsApp groups
- Use Teamo Chat (Squad, Match, individual or Group chats) instead of WhatsApp
- Be a champion and role model for the move to Teamo Chat - remind players in Whatsapp if they should be chatting in Teamo Chat
- Continue to keep your squad membership up to date in Teamo.
Players in Men’s teams, including junior players:
- Use Teamo Chat instead of WhatsApp for all club and match chat
- Add Teamo to your home screen on your mobile, switch on notifications, check frequently
- Keep the content and language appropriate for juniors in the group
- Be a role model for the move to Teamo Chat - even when things get tricky!
- Junior players: get active in Teamo Chat – we want to include you in all the hockey communications!
- (Continue to use WhatsApp socially at your own risk if you wish)
Parents/guardians of U15s/U18s who also play in Men's adult teams
- Continue to monitor the U15s WhatsApp chat for U15s communications. (No juniors in this group please!)
- Continue to put availability into Teamo at least 2 weeks in advance - for both the U15 and adult teams
- Help your youngster use Teamo Chat and take responsibility for updating their availability in Teamo
- Keep an eye on Teamo Chat where you will see every message that goes to your youngster.
If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to your captain in the first instance.
For technical issues ask your captain, Teamo Support (via Teamo Chat) or Jim Garside (via Teamo Chat)!
We appreciate that this change will likely cause short term problems - but we ask for your support to work through them to find solutions and/or ask for help.
See the documents below for more about the reasons for this change and how to use Teamo Chat.
