About Us

Youth Hockey At CCHC

Our youth section is embedded in a club that caters for and supports the ambition of all players of all standards. Whether your ambition is to play for GB or you’re picking up a stick for the first time with friends, there’s no better place for young players to develop their game and have a great time doing it. Central to our philosophy is that sport should be fun, with coaching and player development built around the aspirations, needs and performance of the player.

We provide a managed pathway from 5-18 and into senior hockey. Whilst proud of our youth teams’ strong performances in competition, our aim is for every player to end the season better than when they started, playing to their desired potential and, most of all, to have had fun along the way as members of a thriving and inclusive hockey club. We enter teams into national, area and local competitions for performance and developing players, for both outdoor and indoor hockey. Details can be found in the Junior Competitions page. For the 21/22 season, we entered 18 teams of all standards into England Hockey national and area competitions.

We have a strong performance culture too for those who aspire to the highest level and have a strong cohort of players selected for England Hockey regional and national level squads, as well as juniors in our senior first teams.

Hockey for All

We want everyone to have access to hockey - but not all schools offer it. We are proud to say we run specific Junior Development sessions for those who have an interest in playing hockey and are complete beginners or have limited opportunities through their school. For details, check out their team page, or contact Kim Small via the contact form below.

Coaching

As part of one of the leading clubs in the East of England, our juniors have access to some great resources and people – whether it’s dedicated goalkeeper training alongside our senior keepers or an introduction to Strength and Conditioning with Sam Coe, our elite teams S&C coach.

CCHC provides weekly training, regional league matches and entry to England Hockey outdoor and indoor competitions for those that are interested. Matches are typically played on Sundays.  Our home base is the Cambridge University Sports Ground on Wilberforce Road. The three pitches and clubhouse provide a great environment for fun, safe hockey for all.
