CCHC M3s picked up their first win of the season, overcoming local rivals Nomads 1s 4-3 in an entertaining game at Wilberforce Road.
Nomads started the game pressing high up the pitch, but City looked threatening with pace and good interplay when they got the ball into advanced areas. One such attack led to Marc giving City the lead, but this was cancelled out when Baz (DoD) gifted a Nomads forward the simplest of chances to equalise. City bounced back in remarkable fashion, with a questionable reverse-stick shot from Sachin turning into a looping cross that was brilliantly finished by Rupert (MoM) with an overhead smash.
The game was still very much in the balance at half time, but in the second half City had better control, bypassing the Nomads press more easily. Clear-cut chances were still hard to come by though, so it was a relief when Hamish got the final touch after a broken-down short corner to extend City's lead. Nomads reduced their deficit, punishing a midfield turnover clinically, but fears of a nervy finish were allayed when David tapped in at the back post to make it 4-2. A short corner after the final whistle resulted in a third goal for Nomads, but over the 70 minutes City were good value for the points.
